The Mandalorian: The Child Gets Criticized by Fans

Lucasfilm has made it clear that there was no evil intent behind Baby Yoda guzzling down Frog Lady’s eggs but, the recent episode has stirred up a conversation with some believing that it is a heinous action. Although some have called the act atrocious other fans have argued that it is not different from humans eating eggs in any way. The debate might sound naïve, but Baby Yoda has proved that he is eviller than Anakin Skywalker. 

In Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine attempts to eliminate as many Jedi via Order 66, sending Anakin to slaughter several younglings in the Jedi Temple. It was a crucial point that established Anakin’s turn to the dark side. Even today, most fans can’t forgive him for killing so many younglings and regard it as a despicable act. For the same reasons, some viewers are not happy with the Child for almost wiping out an entire species.

While it is true that Baby Yoda was not aware of the implication of his actions, and he was hungry. What makes the scenario even more controversial is that Frog Lady ensured that Din Djarin took her and her eggs to her partner. Since those eggs are the last of their species, they were very important, and it’s sad to see what the Child did to them. The eggs were the last hope for an entire species, so watching Baby Yoda eat them seems to try to make fun of the circumstances. 

While it might be hilarious and comedic for some of the viewers to see Baby Yoda devour those eggs, it is strange that the show created a sentimental connection of the audience for the mission and then threw it all away for just a few laughs. It is no doubt that some viewers found it off-putting, and although Anakin has a sinister reason for culling the younglings, Baby Yoda’s actions seem even harsher. It appears that the show only used the eggs as a prop for humor, which is despicable. 

At least Anakin had an ideology that drove him to commit those murders, but for Baby Yoda, that is not true. There is no other reason aside from making a joke, which makes the act seem even more heinous. Although both acts are indeed reprehensible, Baby Yoda’s action did not get as much criticism is strange. It remains to be seen how the fans who at first did not find the act outrageous react when they listen to the criticism, even though it is coming from a tiny group of fans.
